World Cup Soccer Scoring System

Any ideas for Fantasy World Cup, besides Pick em?

I’d like to set up a Fantasy soccer league for the 2010 World Cup. The only ones i’ve seen are ones where you draft players or pick each game. We are trying to figure out a system where you draft countries and accumulate points based on how they do. Has anyone done anything similar? How did you figure out the scoring system? Are different rounds worth different points?

I want to stay away from the following:
1) picking a winner or tie for each game
2) picking players.
Were points different based on when a country won? For example is winning in the group stage worth x points, winning in the round of 16 worth y points, round of 8 would be z points, etc…

You can do whatever you want.

For the last world cup my friends and I did this. We got 8 people, we each drafted 4 countries, and then we drafted a couple of players.

For the countries, we got points for wins and less points for a draw (I don’t remember the exact)
For the players, we got points for goals scored.

Simple.
